Short answer: Open a comment in Comments → Comment view. The heart likes it, the crossed-out eye hides it and the bin deletes it. The block icon next to the commenter's name blocks them (Facebook only). Like, hide and block can be undone with a second click. Delete cannot be undone. Which actions work depends on the platform: see the table below.
Before you start
You need the permission manage comments. Without it the icons are greyed out.
The channel must be connected. If an action fails, see What do the error messages mean when I reply, like or hide a comment?.
Doing this by hand costs no credits.
Which actions work on which platform?
Action | Instagram (organic) | TikTok | YouTube | Google Reviews, Play Store, App Store, Ausgezeichnet.org | |||
Like | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ |
Hide | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ | ❌ |
Delete | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ | Only your own comments | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ |
Block | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ | ❌ | ❌ | ❌ | ❌ |
Instagram vs. Instagram (organic): liking an Instagram comment only works when the channel is connected with the normal Instagram option (via Facebook login). With Instagram (organic) the heart is greyed out. See Instagram vs. Instagram Organic Connection | Which Connection Should You Choose?.
YouTube: you cannot delete comments on a partnership video.
Mentions: a mention of your brand in someone else's post or comment cannot be hidden, deleted or blocked. See Will I also see mentions in posts or comments for my page?.
In bulk actions and automations, comments on platforms that do not support the action are skipped and the rest carries on.
Step 1: Open the comment
Click a comment in Comments → Comment view. The three icons sit at the right edge of the comment: heart (like), crossed-out eye (hide) and bin (delete) (2). On Facebook the block icon (1) sits next to the commenter's name. Icons that a platform does not support are not shown. In the picture, the comment is faded because it was hidden.
Step 2: Like a comment
Click the heart. It turns red. A message in the corner says Sending 1 reply and then Reply successful. To take the like back, click the heart again.
If the heart is greyed out on Instagram, the channel is connected as Instagram (organic). Hover over the heart to read: Instagram comment likes are only supported for Instagram accounts connected via Facebook login.
Step 3: Hide a comment
Click the crossed-out eye. The comment is not deleted. It becomes invisible for the public and appears faded in replient.ai. To show it again, click the eye again.
Who can still see a hidden comment depends on the platform. See Who can still see hidden comments on each platform?.
If a platform refuses to hide the comment, replient.ai shows Cannot hide via API and a link Please click here to manually hide it that opens the comment on the platform.
On TikTok, unhiding can fail with TikTok rejected the unhide request. This comment may be blocked by TikTok moderation.
Step 4: Delete a comment
Click the bin. The tooltip says If you delete the comment you will not be able to restore it again. The comment is removed on the platform, not only in replient.ai. The bin turns red and the comment is faded.
⚠️ Important: Deleting cannot be undone. If you only want to take a comment out of sight, hide it instead. A hidden comment can be shown again.
On TikTok you can only delete comments from your own account. Other people's TikTok comments can only be hidden.
Step 5: Block a commenter (Facebook only)
Click the block icon (1) next to the name. The tooltip says Click to block user: This user will not be able to publish visible comments any more. The icon turns red and a message confirms User blocked successfully. Click the red icon to unblock. The message then says User unblocked successfully.
Step 6: Undo – what can be taken back?
Action | How to undo |
Like | Click the heart again. |
Hide | Click the crossed-out eye again. |
Block | Click the red block icon again. |
Delete | Not possible. |
Done | Click Undo in the message that appears, or open the Done tab and click the button that reopens the comment. |
Step 7: Find the comments you liked or hid
A liked or hidden comment moves to the Done tab. Click Done (1), click the filter icon, click Add filter, choose Reply status and pick for example Manually hidden (2). The options also include Manually liked, Manually deleted, Hidden by automation and Hidden by bulk action.
The comment only moves to Done if the setting Move comments automatically to done, if they were answered or liked under Learning is on. It is on by default.
Hide or like automatically
You can let replient.ai hide or like comments for you with a comment automation. The starter Hide negative comments hides comments that our AI tagged Against brand or Complaint. See How do I set up a comment automation?. If you wonder why a comment was hidden, open it and click Show Activities. The line says whether an automation, a bulk action or a person did it. Use the filter Hidden by automation to list them all.
Good to know
A bulk action can hide or like many comments at once but has no bulk undo. See How do I handle giveaways and close many comments at once?.
Every action is listed in the Activity Protocol. See What's the Activity Protocol?.
