How do I see what happened to a comment? (Activity Protocol)

Open "Show Activities" on any comment or message to see which automation, teammate or platform handled it – and why something failed or was skipped.

Written by Thomas Danninger

Short answer: Open the comment or message and click Show Activities. The Activity Protocol lists everything that happened to it: which automation ran, what a teammate did, what failed or was skipped, and what was done directly on the platform. It is the fastest way to find out why something happened – or didn't.

Step 1: Open the comment and click Show Activities

Go to Comments. Comments that were already handled are usually in the Done tab (1). Open the comment and click Show Activities (2). Messages in the DM inbox have the same button.

Step 2: Read the Activity Protocol

Every entry has a timestamp and says who or what did it.

  • Automation #… [name]: sent message "…" or comment liked – the automation step ran successfully. Click the ID to open the automation.

  • (Failed) – the platform rejected the action. Hover over it to see the reason.

  • (skipped as not supported on …) – the action isn't available on this platform.

  • Automation pending for this comment – the automation is still waiting (wait time or business hours) and runs at the time shown.

  • Actions done directly on the platform show the platform as the source, for example Instagram (outside of replient).

  • Nothing listed – no automation matched and nobody has handled the comment yet.

What is logged

  • Which automation was triggered (with automation name and ID)

  • Manual actions by you and your teammates

  • Private messages that were sent

  • Manual sentiment changes and status changes (open / done)

  • AI suggestions that were sent

  • Actions done directly on the platform, for example a comment hidden or answered in the Instagram app

💡 Tip: Need our help with a comment? Send us a screenshot of its Activity Protocol and a link to the comment on the platform in the chat. With that we can usually tell you right away what happened.
