What are DM Automations in replient.ai and how do they work?

DM Automations in replient.ai let you build interactive, step-by-step direct message flows directly inside replient.ai. They’re ideal when you want to guide users through a customer journey in DMs instead of handling everything publicly in the comments.

Typical use cases:

  • Comment keyword → DM delivery (e.g., “Comment SUSHI for the recipe”)

  • Giveaway participation flows (confirm participation → follow check → landing page link)

  • Story reply funnels (send voice memo + link to newsletter)

  • DM routing (support-like decision trees: “Order status” vs “Product question”)

  • Lead generation (collect email + send to Zapier/Make)

  • Grow followers

DM Automations vs. Comment Automations (important distinction)

In replient.ai there are two automation “worlds”:

  • Work on public comments

  • Actions include: reply to comment, like, hide, delete (platform-dependent), mark as done

  • Best for high-volume moderation and quick engagement

DM Automations

  • Work inside direct messages

  • Can be triggered by a comment, but the “real flow” happens in DMs

  • Include many “builder steps”: ask a question, wait, send link/media, collect email, etc.

  • Best for funnels and customer journeys

Execution order and priority (how replient.ai decides what runs)

To avoid double actions, DM Automations are evaluated first:

  1. DM Automations run first

  2. If no DM Automation matches, Comment Automations run next

  3. Within each type, automations are checked top → bottom

  4. The first matching automation runs and then execution stops

This means:

  • You can safely have a broad “AI comment reply” Comment Automation running…

  • …and still run specific DM flows (giveaways, recipes) without double replies - as long as the DM automation is above and matches first.

Supported platforms

DM Automations are Meta only, i.e.:

  • ✅ Instagram

  • ✅ Facebook

  • ❌ TikTok DMs (not supported due to API restrictions)

When to use DM Automations (a simple rule)

Use DM Automations when you need:

  • structured multi-step communication

  • link tracking and follow-ups

  • lead capture (emails)

  • interactive buttons and decision trees

  • deeper conversion actions beyond “reply/like/hide”

  • grow followers by asking them to follow (IG only)

Use Comment Automations when you need:

  • moderation at scale

  • quick engagement actions

  • simple “if tag/sentiment then action” automation
