A trigger defines when a DM Automation starts. In replient.ai you can start DM flows from comments, DMs, and stories (Meta only).
Available DM Automation triggers
1) Someone sends you a DM
This trigger starts a flow when a user sends you a DM.
Best for:
automating inbound FAQs
routing questions (“Shipping” vs “Returns”)
product recommendations in DMs
You can set the Platform and specific keywords, sentiment or DM tags when you want this automation to trigger.
For example: You can trigger a DM automation for all messages that have the tag "Shipping Question" with specific decision trees.
2) You send someone a DM
This trigger starts after you (or your team) send a DM to someone.
Best for:
follow-up sequences
post-support check-ins
“if you reached out, start a follow-up flow”
3) Someone replies to your story
Story replies often have extremely high intent and strong conversion.
Best for:
newsletter signups
quiz funnels
sending a voice memo + link
“Answer ‘INFO’ to my story and I send you the link”
4) Someone mentions you in a story
When someone tags you in a story, you can respond with a friendly message and optionally guide them to the next step (link, question, etc.).
5) Someone comments on your post
Use this for classic “comment keyword → DM” campaigns:
“Comment SUSHI and I’ll send you the recipe”
“Comment DISCOUNT to get your code”
“Comment ADVENT to join the giveaway”
Best for:
organic lead gen
product drops
recipe/freebie delivery
giveaways
Trigger selection tips
If your main goal is funnels/conversion, start with:
Story reply (often highest reply rates)
Comment keyword (best for scaling)
If your goal is support routing, use:
Someone sends you a DM
If your goal is follow-up sequences, use:
You send someone a DM
Is there a “Follow” trigger like in ManyChat?
Some users coming from ManyChat ask whether replient.ai supports a trigger like:
“When someone follows my Instagram account → automatically send them a DM.”
Short answer:
No - this is currently not supported in replient.ai.
Why is this not available?
Meta only provides this specific “Follow” trigger access to a very limited set of partners (only Manychat). At the moment, this functionality is not publicly available via the standard API, which means replient.ai cannot technically implement it.
As soon as Meta opens this trigger to all approved partners, we will evaluate and implement it.
