How do DM Automations work?

DM Automations are now available to everyone! Create automated direct message workflows to save time and respond faster.

Use cases: You've probably seen posts saying "Comment with a keyword and I'll send you a direct link." replient.ai makes this easy without expensive third-party tools.

Setup:

  1. Create a trigger (e.g., "Comment contains 'INFO'")

  2. Add action: Send Private Message

  3. Write your DM template (can include links, images, etc.)

  4. Set optional delays for natural timing

Advanced DM Automation Features:

Collect Email Node: Add a dedicated "Collect Email" step in your automation flow to capture subscriber emails directly in conversations. Great for building your contact list.

User Tagging: Add user tags directly within DM automation flows to segment audiences and trigger personalized journeys automatically.

Available Triggers:

Available Actions for the DM automation builder:

Insights: View DM Automations Insights to track performance, conversion rates, and optimization opportunities.

What's the difference between comments and messages?

Comments are public replies visible to everyone on a post.

Messages (DMs) are private 1-on-1 conversations via Instagram Direct or Facebook Messenger.

replient.ai handles both, and you can even send a DM directly from the comment view when you want to move a public conversation to private. This is useful for handling:

  • Customer service issues

  • Shipping or order questions

  • Complaints that should be handled privately

  • Sending personalized links or codes
