Short answer: Go to Learning and add up to 5 short rules under Custom instructions for this brand, for example Never use emojis or Always address people with “du”. The AI follows them in every new suggestion. By default it replies in the language of the comment. To use one language for everything, add an instruction such as Always reply in German.
Before you start
Custom instructions are included in the Pro plan and higher (and during the free trial). On Lite you see an upgrade message when you try to add one.
You need the permission to manage learning. The brand owner always has it.
Instructions belong to one brand. If you manage several brands, add them in each brand.
Step 1: Open the custom instructions
Click Learning in the sidebar and scroll to Custom instructions for this brand.
Step 2: Add an instruction
Type your rule into the field Write your instruction here... (1).
Click Add instruction (2) or press Enter.
Repeat for more rules. You can add up to 5.
To change a rule, click into it, edit the text and press Enter or click outside the field. It saves automatically. Click Delete (3) to remove it.
Step 3: Check the result
New instructions apply to every suggestion that is created afterwards. Suggestions that already exist stay as they are. To see the effect on a comment you already have, open it and click the circular arrow below the suggestions. This creates a new set, costs no credits and works up to 15 suggestions per comment.
What to write: examples

Tips for good instructions
One rule per instruction. You only have 5, so group related points, but keep each one short and clear.
Be specific. “Be friendly” is vague. “Write in a warm, casual tone and use first names” is clear.
Say what to do, not only what to avoid. Pair Never promise refunds with Ask the person to send us a DM.
Put links into the instruction. The AI may only use links it knows from your post, your website, your documents, your past replies or your instructions. A link that appears nowhere else is rejected.
Don't paste whole brand books. Use short rules. For long reference text, upload a document instead (see below).
Reply language
Default: replient.ai detects the language of every comment and the AI replies in that language. Someone writes in Spanish, the suggestion is in Spanish.
One fixed language: add an instruction such as Always reply in German.
Read comments in your language: Under Settings → Account → Language you choose your account language. Click translate into your language on a comment to read it. To translate every incoming comment and suggestion automatically, switch on Automatically translate incoming comments and suggestions into your account language on the Learning page.
Edit in your language: if you edit a translated suggestion, click save and translate back so the reply is posted in the commenter's language.

More settings that shape the style
These switches are on the Learning page under General settings for this brand:
What describes you best? (1) Choose Brand or Influencer. The AI then uses the writing guidelines made for that type.
Ask follow-up questions in AI-generated suggestions to get higher engagement rates (2): the first suggestion contains a follow-up question. See Can replient.ai ask questions for every comment reply?.
Automatically translate incoming comments and suggestions into your account language (3): see the language section above.
Enable AI transparency notice for all generated suggestions (4): adds a line such as This reply was created with the help of AI to every suggestion. You can change the text.
How the AI learns your style from your replies
When you connect a channel, replient.ai reads your earlier comments and your replies to them.
For each new comment, the AI looks at up to 5 similar earlier comments and how you answered them. Your wording and style in those replies shape the new suggestion.
Every reply you send is added. If you edit a suggestion before you send it, your edited version is what counts, so editing teaches the AI.
Replies sent by automations or bulk actions are not learned, so the AI does not learn from itself.
The first suggestion is called Favorite answer. It is the AI's best guess. Choosing it or an alternative does not train anything. What you send does.
Why does the AI ignore my instruction?
The suggestion is older than the instruction. Click the circular arrow to create a new set.
Your plan doesn't include instructions. On Lite they can't be added. If a plan change removes the feature, saved instructions are kept but no longer used.
It is the wrong brand. Instructions only apply to the brand where you added them.
The reply doesn't come from the AI. Automations that send Custom text, saved reply templates and your own edits are not changed by instructions.
The instruction is vague or contradicts another one. Shorten it and make it concrete. The AI is told that your instructions come first, but it is a language model: long or conflicting rules can still be misread.
A platform limit applies. TikTok replies must fit into two comments of 150 characters, and Google Play Store replies are limited to 350 characters. Instructions cannot lift these limits.
