How do credits work?

What uses credits, what is free, when credits reset and what happens when they run out.

Written by Thomas Danninger

Short answer: A credit is the unit replient.ai uses for AI work. Analysing a comment costs 0.1 credit. An AI reply draft adds 0.9, so a comment with an AI draft costs 1 credit. An AI reply to a DM costs 1 credit. Everything else is free. Your plan credits reset every month. When they run out, processing pauses until you add credits or your plan resets. Your comments and messages keep arriving.

What costs credits

What

Credits

When it happens

Sentiment & tags

0.1

Every comment we process. This is the basic AI analysis.

AI reply suggestions

0.9

When the AI writes a reply for a comment. This happens for every comment that reaches your inbox unanswered, whether or not you send the draft. It also happens when an automation or a bulk action uses an AI suggestion.

AI DM reply

1

When the AI writes an answer to a message: in your DM inbox, with the Reply with AI step of a DM automation, or in a bulk action. Every new generation counts again.

Post content analysis

2

Optional, per post, only on Business and Enterprise. You turn it on in Learning.

Comments that your automations finish themselves never get an AI draft. They only cost the 0.1 for analysis.

What is free

  • Automation steps without AI: fixed text replies, likes, hiding, tags, waiting times, notifications.

  • DMs that your automations send. A comment-to-DM campaign only costs the 0.1 per comment.

  • Replying, liking, hiding or deleting by hand.

  • More AI suggestions for a comment that already has a first set. The first set is what costs the 0.9.

  • Comments that an automation moves to done without analysing them (see below).

What that means in practice

Settings → Billing has a How do credits work? window with examples. These are the numbers from it:

  • 100 spam comments hidden automatically: 100 × 0.1 = 10 credits

  • 1,000 comments a month, automations finish 800, 200 reach your inbox with AI drafts: 1,000 × 0.1 + 200 × 0.9 = 280 credits

  • A comment-to-DM campaign on 4,000 comments: 4,000 × 0.1 = 400 credits. The DMs are free.

  • 300 messages a month answered by AI: 300 × 1 = 300 credits

Save credits on comments you do not need

You can skip the AI analysis for comments you do not want to work on, for example under a giveaway post:

  1. Create a comment automation and move it to the top of your list, so it is checked first.

  2. Use a condition that does not need AI, such as Post caption, Post id or Post type.

  3. Make Mark comment as done the only action.

Matching comments are moved to done without analysis and cost no credits. Conditions on sentiment, comment tags or comment language need the analysis, so those comments still cost the 0.1.

Typical examples: Post type is Ad post (skip all ad comments), Post caption contains the name of a contest, or Post id is one specific post. To check which comments were analysed, open the Done tab: skipped comments show as Neutral without tags.

Where you see your credits

  • Account menu: click your name at the bottom of the sidebar. On paid plans you see a credit meter with the date your credits reset.

  • Settings → Billing: the Credits card shows how many plan credits you used, your top-up credits and the date your usage resets.

  • Settings → Credits: credits left, credits used this period, the date you are expected to run out, a usage breakdown by type, brand or time and your full credit history. You can export the history as CSV.

We also email you when you have used 80%, 90% and 100% of your credits in a period. Team members see the balance of the account owner. Only the owner can buy credits.

When do credits reset?

  • Plan credits reset every month on your billing date. The Credits card shows the exact date under Usage resets on. On yearly plans you also get your credits every month.

  • Unused plan credits do not roll over to the next month.

  • One-time credits (top-ups) do not reset. They stay valid for 12 months after you buy them. They are used after your plan credits are gone.

What happens when credits run out

When your credits run out, processing pauses. You will notice:

  • A banner at the top of the app: Processing paused. It says that automations and AI replies resume when you add credits.

  • Affected comments show Waiting for credits. They were not analysed and got no AI reply draft yet. They are processed automatically once credits are available.

  • Your automations show a Paused label. They stay switched on but do not run while processing is paused.

  • The buttons for AI replies are disabled, with a hint that no credits are left.

New comments and messages keep arriving, and you can still read and answer them by hand.

How do I get more credits?

  1. Wait for the reset. Your plan credits come back on your billing date.

  2. Buy one-time credits. Go to Settings → Billing and click Buy one-time credits on the Credits card. Packs: 1,000 credits for €29, 5,000 credits for €119, 20,000 credits for €399 (plus VAT). You pay by card.

  3. Turn on auto-purchase. Under Extra credits auto-purchase on the same card you choose a pack and a maximum number of purchases per billing period. We then buy the pack automatically when your balance is not enough for the next action. It is optional and it stops after three failed payments in a row.

  4. Raise your monthly credits. On Pro and Business, choose a bigger credit volume or a higher plan under Compare plans. See Which plan is right for me?.

⚠️ Important: One-time credits and auto-purchase only work with an active paid subscription that we bill ourselves. They are not available during the free trial or for subscriptions bought in the Apple app.

What if I need more than the biggest plan?

The biggest self-service volume is 50,000 credits per month on Business. For more, you can top up with credit packs or contact us about Enterprise. Enterprise credits are agreed individually, also above 50,000. Click Let's talk in the plans section of Settings → Billing or write to us in the chat.
