I can't see my YouTube channel when connecting it to replient.ai

Written by Thomas Danninger

Short answer: Google only offers channels that sit in a Brand Account - unless you are signed in as the account that owns the channel itself. So if your channel is attached directly to a personal Google account, nobody but that one person can connect it, no matter what access you granted them. This guide shows you how to check, and how to move your channel into a Brand Account so your team or agency can connect it too.

If someone invited you as an "Admin" inside YouTube Studio, that does not help either: those are channel permissions, and Google's own documentation lists the YouTube APIs among the areas they don't cover. Every tool that connects to YouTube hits the same wall.

Video Walkthrough:

Step 1: Do you already have a Brand Account?

Sign in with the Google account that owns the channel (not only admin role), then:

  1. Look at the "Channel relinking" section

- It says "Move channel to a Brand Account" → you do not have a Brand Account. Continue with Step 2.

- There is no such option → your channel already sits in a Brand Account. Skip ahead to Step 3.

Step 2: Move your channel into a Brand Account

You can't create a Brand Account around an existing channel. Instead you create an empty throwaway channel (which is automatically a Brand Account) and move your real channel into it. The throwaway gets deleted during the move.

Only the channel owner can do this. Set aside 10 quiet minutes - the confirmation screens talk about deleting a channel, and rushing here is how people delete the wrong one.

2.1 Create the empty Brand Account

Go to https://www.youtube.com/account and click Create a new channel (check if you are logged into the correct google account!).

Give it any name - it's a shell that will be deleted at the end, so don't spend time on it. Then click Create channel.

You may be asked to sign in again. Afterwards both channels exist side by side under the same login.

2.2 Start the move

Switch back to the channel you actually want to move, then go to https://www.youtube.com/account_advanced again and click Move channel to a Brand Account (the link from Step 1). Verify your identity when Google asks.

You'll land on "Move your YouTube channel to another account". Check that the channel shown under "YouTube channel being moved" is the right one - it should show your real subscriber and video counts.

Scroll down, find the empty Brand Account you just created, and click Replace.

2.3 The screen that scares everyone

Google now asks "Delete this channel?".

This refers to the throwaway channel, not your real one. Confirm it before you continue: it must show no subscribers, no videos, no playlists.

> ⚠️ If this screen shows videos or subscribers, stop. You've selected the wrong target.

Tick "I understand and wish to proceed" and click Delete channel.

2.4 Confirm the move

The last dialog summarises what changes. Two things worth reading:

- Your channel URL stays the same.

- Everyone who had channel permissions is removed. You'll need to re-add them afterwards.

Click Relink channel.

2.5 Done

You'll see a confirmation that the channel has been relinked. It can take up to 10 minutes for everything to settle in the background.

You can tell it worked because the account settings page now offers "Add or manage channels" instead of "Create a new channel".

What survives the move

Kept ✅

Lost ❌

Channel name, URL and handle

Watch and search history

Description and links

Creator demographic data

Subscribers

Gift settings

Videos, views and comments

Existing channel permissions (re-add them)

Playlists and community posts

Known quirk: the playlists section may briefly disappear from YouTube Studio after the move. It usually comes back within a few hours. Take a screenshot of your playlists beforehand if you want to be safe.

Step 3: Invite the person who will connect the channel

Your channel now lives in a Brand Account. Grant access to whoever will connect it - your agency, a colleague, or a second account of your own.

1. Open myaccount.google.com/brandaccounts and select your Brand Account

2. Click Manage permissions

3. Click the invite user icon in the top right, enter their Google address, and pick a role

Choose Admin (or Owner). Do not pick "Communications manager" — that role explicitly cannot use YouTube.

4. Click Invite. The person now shows as Invited and receives an email.

⚠️ The invitation must be accepted from that email before anything changes. This is the single most common reason people think the move didn't work.

One warning if you open Studio permissions

After the move, YouTube Studio → Settings → Permissions offers you a choice. Keep managing permissions in your Brand Account.

Do not click "Move permissions to YouTube Studio" - that switches you back to channel permissions, which is exactly the system that external tools can't use.

Step 4: Connect the channel in replient.ai

1. In replient.ai, go to your brand and click Connect channel → YouTube

2. Sign in with the account that has access (Owner, Admin or Manager)

3. On the "Choose an account or brand account" screen, select the Brand Account - not your personal account

Troubleshooting

The channel still isn't in the list.

The invitation is most likely still unaccepted. Check the inbox of the invited address, and make sure it's the same account you're signing in with.

The wrong channel got connected.

Remove the connection in replient.ai and connect again, this time picking the Brand Account.

"Manage permissions" isn't available.

Only the primary owner of a Brand Account can invite users. If you're an admin, ask the primary owner.

I just need this connected quickly.

Then ask the account owner to share his Google Login. That way you can connect without moving to a brand account.
