If your YouTube channel doesn't show up when you connect it to replient.ai, it's almost always because of a YouTube Brand Account or missing Owner permissions. This article walks you through what's happening and how to fix it.
💡 In short: YouTube distinguishes between your personal channel and a Brand Account channel (business channel). When connecting, you have to actively select the right channel on the Google screen – and you must be the Owner of the channel.
How does this work?
A Brand Account is a separate Google account for your brand. In that case, your YouTube channel isn't tied directly to your personal Google login, but to this Brand Account, which several people can manage together.
When you connect through Google, this happens:
Google first shows you an account selection (which Google login).
Then Google shows you a channel selection – here you choose between your personal channel and your Brand Account channel.
If this second step is skipped, or you pick the wrong channel, replient.ai ends up on your personal default channel – which is often empty or not the channel you actually want to manage. That's exactly when it feels like "my channel isn't there."
The most common causes at a glance
You didn't select the Brand Account channel. You stayed on the personal channel instead of choosing the business channel in Google's channel selection.
You're not the Owner of the channel. The channel can't be connected with Manager or Admin permissions – only the Owner can connect the channel to replient.ai.
No YouTube channel exists yet. Having a Google account doesn't mean a YouTube channel is set up.
Not all permissions were granted. If you leave any checkbox unchecked on Google's consent screen, the connection fails.
You were logged in with the wrong Google account. Google only shows the accounts currently signed in to your browser.
Step 1: Make sure you're the Owner of the channel
The channel cannot be connected with Manager or Admin permissions. You have to be the Owner.
👉 How to check your role:
Open studio.youtube.com and sign in with the relevant Google account.
On the left, click Settings → Permissions.
Check whether your account is listed as Owner.
If you're only a Manager, ask the channel's primary owner to give you Owner permissions – or have the connection done from an Owner account directly.
⚠️ Note: The Community Manager role can't manage YouTube at all. This role is not enough to connect.
Step 2: Check that a YouTube channel actually exists
Sometimes there's no YouTube channel attached to the Google account yet.
Go to youtube.com and sign in.
Click your profile picture in the top right → Create channel, if you don't have one yet.
Only after that can the channel be selected in replient.ai.
Step 3: Connect the right channel in replient.ai
In replient.ai, go to the Learning tab → Connected social media accounts (or connect YouTube directly during onboarding).
Select YouTube and start the connection.
You'll be redirected to Google. Here you'll see all Google accounts currently signed in to your browser.
Select the account linked to your YouTube channel.
If it's not in the list, click Use another account and sign in.
Important: Now, in Google's channel selection, choose your Brand Account channel (your business channel) – not the personal channel.
Check all the boxes for the requested permissions and click Continue.
You'll be redirected back to replient.ai, and the channel is connected.
ℹ️ Tip: If the channel selection doesn't appear at all and you're sent straight through, you're probably only signed in with your personal channel. Sign in again cleanly with the Owner account in a private/incognito window and start the connection again.
Step 4: If it still doesn't work
Switch to an incognito window and sign in there with only the Owner account. This prevents Google from using the wrong one out of several signed-in accounts.
Check your Brand Account access at myaccount.google.com → Brand Accounts. Is your account listed as Owner there?
Migrate to YouTube Studio channel permissions: Google is moving permission management from the old Brand Account roles to channel permissions in YouTube Studio (Settings → Permissions). This makes access cleaner and more transparent.
Managing multiple brands?
If you manage several independent brands, keep this in mind: each brand needs its own separate account in replient.ai with its own login, so the Google connections don't "kick each other out." You can find more on this in the article about managing multiple brands.
