Short answer: Yes. replient.ai connects to Facebook and Instagram only through Meta's official login and APIs, asks for the permissions listed below, and never posts or replies on your account until you reply yourself or switch on an automation. replient.ai is a Meta Business Partner. Meta still decides about restrictions, and a burst of similar replies can trigger its spam detection even when you follow every rule. This article explains what replient.ai can access, how we reduce the risk and what to do if Meta restricts an account.
What "approved by Meta" means
Every action in replient.ai runs through Meta's official, sanctioned channels. It does not mean that we have special access to Meta's systems, influence over Meta's policies or the power to lift a restriction. Meta sets the rules for every tool, including ours.
We can keep our product in line with Meta's current rules, share best practices and escalate a case to Meta if it looks like a mistake. We cannot reverse a ban or override Meta's spam detection.
Which permissions we request and why
When you connect a channel, Meta shows you a login window with the permissions below. You grant them there, not in replient.ai. You never enter your Facebook or Instagram password in replient.ai.
Facebook and Instagram connected via Facebook
This applies when you click Facebook or Instagram in Learning → Add additional channels. Both use the same Facebook login.
Permission | What replient.ai uses it for |
public_profile | Your name and profile picture, so we can show who connected the account. |
pages_show_list | Lists the Pages you manage, so you can choose which ones to connect. |
pages_read_engagement | Reads your Page's posts and the comments on them. |
pages_manage_engagement | Replies to, likes, hides and deletes comments on your Page, for manual replies and automations. |
pages_manage_metadata | Subscribes your Page to notifications, so new comments and messages reach replient.ai as they happen. |
pages_messaging | Reads and sends Messenger messages of your Page, for the inbox and DM automations. |
read_insights | Reads Page statistics for the analytics. |
instagram_basic | Reads basic information and posts of the Instagram account linked to your Page. |
instagram_manage_comments | Reads, replies to and moderates comments on your Instagram posts. |
instagram_manage_messages | Reads and sends Instagram direct messages. |
instagram_manage_insights | Reads Instagram statistics for the analytics. |
ads_read | Finds the ad accounts you have access to and recognises which posts are ads, so comments on your ads show up in replient.ai. replient.ai only reads this data. It does not create or change ads, budgets or campaigns. |
Instagram (organic)
This applies when you click Instagram (organic). It uses Instagram's own login and asks for fewer permissions. Comments on ads are not available with this connection.
Permission | What replient.ai uses it for |
instagram_business_basic | Reads basic information and posts of your Instagram account. |
instagram_business_manage_comments | Reads, replies to and moderates comments. |
instagram_business_manage_messages | Reads and sends Instagram direct messages. |
instagram_business_manage_insights | Reads statistics for the analytics. |
How your connection is protected
The access tokens we store for your channels are encrypted.
Social media accounts can only be connected and managed by the team admin.
You stay in control: you can remove replient.ai in your Facebook or Instagram settings at any time, and you can delete a channel in replient.ai under Learning (open the menu of the channel and click Delete). Deleting a channel also deletes the comments collected for it and cannot be undone.
If you remove replient.ai in Meta's settings and ask Meta to delete your data, Meta notifies us and we delete the connected Facebook and Instagram channels together with their comments, messages, contacts and training data.

How replient.ai keeps your account safe
Nothing runs until you set it up. Connecting a channel does not start any automation. Automations only run after you save and switch them on.
Human-like timing. Set Wait for to random (1-10 minutes) in your automations, so replies do not go out in one instant burst. If you reply manually during the wait, the automation is cancelled for that comment.
No loops. Your own comments never trigger an automation.
Built around Meta's messaging rules. A private message to a commenter is only possible within 24 hours after the comment, and you can send only 1 DM per comment.
Why accounts get restricted anyway
A tool with official integrations does not get your account banned by itself. Restrictions usually come from Meta's automated spam detection, which can flag unnatural behaviour, also as a false positive. The most common triggers are:
A sudden surge of similar replies, most often when a post goes viral.
Promotional or link-heavy DMs sent to people who did not expect them, or sent outside the 24-hour window.
A high rate of spam reports or blocks.
Repetitive, copy-pasted replies.
Violations of Meta's Terms or Community Standards, including your normal posts. A warning can come from the page itself and not from a tool.
Several accounts with near-identical activity.
Sales blasts in DMs, for example "flash sale" messages to many people at once.
Some restrictions, for example "fake or inauthentic accounts", usually relate to account behaviour such as mass follows or coordinated engagement. They are normally not caused by comment automation.
How to stay on the safe side
Ease off on viral posts. When a post takes off, pause the automation that posts public replies or move those conversations to DMs. A common setup is two comment automations: one that replies publicly and one that does not. Switch to the second one when a post goes viral.
Let people reply first. In comment-to-DM flows, start with an Ask a question step, for example "Want the guide?" with the answer "Yes please". Their answer opens the 24-hour window for your next message.
Lead with value, not a pitch. Send links and offers after the person has engaged.
Keep the random delay instead of "instant".
Start small. Add automations step by step and use custom instructions in Learning to keep the AI replies on-brand.
If Meta restricts or blocks your account
Don't panic. Most restrictions are temporary or can be reversed.
Pause the automation that may have caused it.
Check the status in Facebook: your Page → profile picture → Settings & privacy → Settings → Page setup → Page status.
Appeal through Meta (Business Help Center). Only Meta can lift a restriction.
Fix the cause before you switch automations back on. Contact us in the chat if you want us to review your setup.
